The Wine

Maison Trimbach is one of Alsace’s most storied growers, with over 12 generations of family history. Frédéric Émile is the estate’s flagship Riesling, originally created to honour the famed family member and designed as a wine of both precision and longevity.

Sourced from some of the best old-vine parcels around Ribeauvillé and surrounding hillsides, the grapes are hand-harvested and fermented to dryness using indigenous yeasts. Matured in large neutral oak and old barrels to preserve freshness, the wine is famed for backbone, salinity and age-worthy structure.

Cellared Says

Pure and poised — lime, green apple and sea spray with a chalky backbone. A Riesling that marries power and finesse, compelling now and built for long cellaring. A true benchmark Riesling and one every cellar to should have.

Wine Reviews

‘This great dry Alsace riesling has hugely generous, irresistible aromas of fresh and candied citrus fruit, together with white and yellow peaches. Very chalky and concentrated on the medium- to full-bodied palate. The very long, deeply structured finish makes it plain that this masterpiece is just beginning to give its best! From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.’

97 points, Stuart Pigott, JS Wine Ratings, December 2024.
