Thibaud Boudignon Savennières Clos de la Hutte 2022
Region: Savennières, Loire Valley, France
Variety: Chenin Blanc
Vintage: 2022
The Wine
Clos de la Hutte is one of Savennières’ most historic monopole sites, sitting on steep slopes of schist, sandstone and volcanic material that naturally restrict vigour and amplify mineral expression. Thibaud Boudignon farms biodynamically, harvesting by hand and working with minimal intervention.
Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in large-format oak, followed by extended lees ageing to build structure and longevity. The 2022 vintage brings power and density without sacrificing tension — quince, pear skin, citrus peel and wet stone unfold with air, finishing long, savoury and tightly coiled.
Cellared Says
This is elite dry Chenin, built for serious cellaring. Buyers looking for white wines with genuine investment-grade longevity should be paying close attention.
Wine Reviews
Although it’s ungenerous on the nose, the 2022 Savennières Clos de la Hutte is tender and generous in the mouth, welcoming you in. There’s a cloud of gently handled fruit that embraces the palate, but it does so in an elegant and light-on-its-feet way. Texturally, it’s seamless and coats the mouth with fine texture. In terms of flavor, expect salty, briny notes and citrus tones alongside a touch of spice and nutty oak on the finish. This is a wine that seems to be able to take a deep, calming breath and become more complete. Drink 2025-2037
