The Wanderer Upper Yarra Pinot Noir 2024
Region: Yarra Valley, Victoria
Variety: Pinot Noir
Country: Australia
Vintage: 2024
The Wine
From an Upper Yarra site at 200 m elevation, cane-pruned MV6 clone on volcanic red soil with northeasterly aspect. 20% whole bunch fermentation, rest whole-berry, wild fermented in open vats, and aged 11 months in large-format French oak (30% new Damy Alliers). Unfined, unfiltered
Cellared says
A mid-weight, earthy Pinot with depth and clarity. Subtle tannins, fresh acidity, and spice weave through red-cherry fruit. Lovely lifted fruit up front, some forest floor notes, cool raspberry on the palate with zippy acidty and some seductive oak notes. Super balanced and long. A polished wine that’s both enjoyable young and worthy of short-term cellaring.
