Rockford Basket Press Shiraz Barossa 2006
Region: South Australia
Sub Region: Barossa
Variety: Shiraz
Country: Australia
Vintage: 2006
The Wine
From the unmissable bottle, to the name, Rockford Basket press is an Australian wine icon. With a mailing list of fans, the wines sell out on release like those of Giaconda and finding well cellared bottles at auction or through private cellars, such as this, are the only way to obtain these great wines.
Rockford Basket Press Shiraz is made from grapes sourced from 60 to 140-year-old dry-grown vineyards (most from independent growers) across a range of Barossa soils, altitudes, and micro-climates, the wine is fairly minimal in its winemaking. Around two years in a mix of larger format French and American oak build the wine, without going too overboard.
Cellared Says
A hugely popular wine and for good reason. It rewards cellaring across the mid to the very long term and we expect this to go another decade if kept correctly. All things being equal however, this will be fabulous in the glass now.
