The Wine
Nicole Lamarche’s holdings sit on the fringes of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges, where limestone-rich soils deliver finesse and aromatic detail rather than sheer weight. Viticulture is sustainable, with careful yield control and hand harvesting.
The warm but balanced 2022 season produced ripe, clean fruit while retaining freshness. Fermentation is largely destemmed, with gentle extraction and maturation in French oak barrels (moderate new oak) to frame rather than dominate the wine. Red cherry, wild strawberry and rose petal lead, followed by subtle spice, fine tannins and a precise, Burgundy-typical line.
Cellared Says
A serious villages Burgundy that punches well above its weight. Drinkable young with air, but buyers should confidently cellar this for 6–10 years. recently opened at two events and it was looking wonderful, sure not as complex and dense as the higher AOP wines, but generously perfumed (little cherry cola notes, mixed with thyme and fresh cherry juice) with a lovey mouth shape. Great drinking.
