The Wine

From Massimago’s estate vineyards (100–400m altitude, limestone soils, Guyot and Pergola Veronese), the 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella is crafted parcel by parcel. Grapes are hand-harvested, dried for up to 100 days in traditional fruttaio, then vinified separately before blending post-aging. Following a 25-day maceration and 30-day fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic in 20hl French oak, integrating richness with balance.

Cellared Says

Dark, brooding and seductive—Massimago’s 2017 Amarone is plush with ripe fruit yet lifted by spice and tannin tension. A modern, expressive Amarone of both gravitas and drinkability. This really evolves in the glass, it needs a decant to get the best of it, but its utterly compelling. Verve, fruit, complexity and serious depth and length. Brilliant.

ONLY 8 Bottles in Australia

Wine Reviews

“Dark and brooding in the glass, the 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella smolders up with a bouquet of peppery florals, dried black cherries and spiced orange. It's silky and supple on the palate with rich red fruits that saturate, complemented by clove and dark chocolate nuances. The 2017 finishes spicy and dramatically long, with a tug of lingering, fine tannins.”
