The Wine

Pouilly-Loché remains one of Burgundy's hidden gems. Covering barely 30 hectares, this tiny appellation sits adjacent to Pouilly-Fuissé and shares many of the same limestone-rich soils that make its more famous neighbour so sought after.

Le Bourg is sourced from old-vine parcels surrounding the village itself. The site combines deep limestone soils with a cooler exposition that naturally preserves acidity and freshness. Marcel Couturier farms these vineyards biodynamically, seeking maximum site expression and vineyard health.

Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts and élevage takes place in a combination of older barrels and tank. The emphasis is always on texture, precision and transparency rather than winemaking influence.

Cellared Says

This is one of those wines that quietly converts people into Mâconnais believers. It has all the limestone tension and white Burgundy character you'd hope for, but without the increasingly painful price tag. Yes, its sunny and bright, but also charming, fine, surprisingly complex and excellent drinking.

Reviews

"Complex, layered and beautifully mineral, with impressive depth and length."
93 Points – Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

"A compelling expression of Pouilly-Loché, combining richness with freshness and energy."
92 Points – Vinous
