The Wine

Laherte Frères’ Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is one of the estate’s defining cuvées: pure Chardonnay from carefully selected chalk-rich vineyards, shaped by mature reserve wines and bottled without dosage.

Its foundations lie in Chavot and Épernay on the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay, supplemented by Premier Cru fruit from Vertus and Voipreux in the Côte des Blancs. Biodynamic vineyard practices underpin the approach, with chalk and chalky clay providing the setting for a wine that combines mineral freshness with generous fruit and texture.

Hand-picked grapes ferment in barrels, foudres and larger wooden vessels. Maturation on fine lees, partial malolactic fermentation and a substantial reserve-wine component build depth and balance before extended bottle ageing and disgorgement by hand. The absence of dosage leaves the Chardonnay’s fruit, acidity and savoury detail clearly expressed.

Lemon peel, apple and white stone fruit mingle with dried citrus, almond, chamomile and subtle pastry. The palate is finely textured, combining creamy breadth with bright acidity and a persistent saline finish. It is a particularly compelling expression of Chardonnay Champagne, offering both immediate pleasure and considerable detail.

Cellared Says

Salty, finely drawn and beautifully dry, with enough ripe Chardonnay fruit and lees-derived richness to make the whole wine feel complete. The barrel work adds texture, while the chalky finish keeps each glass refreshing.

An excellent grower Champagne for oysters, sashimi, scallops, tempura or fresh goat’s cheese. Serve around 10–12°C in a tulip-shaped glass to let the layers unfold. Enjoy now–2031.
