Joshua Cooper Doug’s Vineyard Pinot Noir 2024
Region: Macedon Ranges, Victoria
Variety: Pinot Noir
Vintage: 2024
The Wine
Doug’s Vineyard lies just outside Romsey at 500 m altitude on volcanic basalt soils. In 2024, Joshua Cooper hand-harvested the fruit, used open fermenters with around 25% whole bunch, and matured the wine in a mix of new and seasoned oak for 12 months. The wine presents a brilliant ruby hue, with aromas of raspberry, blackberry, rose petal and gentle spice. On the palate it is layered and silken with fine, powdery tannins and a lingering mineral finish.
Cellared Says
Elegant and perfumed on the nose yet well structured and persistent beneath the surface. This is Pinot that captures the spirit of Macedon – lifted, fresh and alive with energy and tension, all underpinned by a well structured fruit/acid/tannin profile. Feel this needs a little cellar time to unfurl and show its best. Drink 2026–2035.
