The Wine
The Pavelot family is most closely associated with Savigny-lès-Beaune, where Jean-Marc and his son Hugues produce some of the appellation’s most consistently transparent wines. Les Beaumonts extends that approach into neighbouring Chorey-lès-Beaune, an appellation valued for supple, fruit-driven Pinot Noir that can offer excellent value beside the better-known villages surrounding Beaune.
Chorey occupies the lower, gently sloping ground between Beaune, Savigny and Aloxe-Corton. Its clay-limestone and alluvial soils generally produce softer tannins and earlier accessibility than the steeper Premier Cru vineyards of Savigny, while the freshness of the northern Côte de Beaune keeps the wines lively.
The 2022 Les Beaumonts was matured for approximately 12 to 14 months in oak, in keeping with Pavelot’s restrained handling of village wines. The generous vintage has produced an expressive, polished Pinot Noir built around red cherry and strawberry, with smooth tannins and enough savoury detail to remain distinctly Burgundian.
