The Wine

Keyneton Euphonium is named in tribute to the Henschke family’s brass band and the Eden Valley village of Keyneton. A symphonic blend led by Shiraz (59%) with Cabernet Sauvignon (33%), Cabernet Franc (6%) and Merlot (2%), sourced from Barossa and Eden Valley vines up to 50 years old. Matured for 20 months in a mix of French and American oak (20% new), the 2022 release is a reflection of a challenging yet ultimately rewarding vintage, yielding wines with lifted aromatics, fine structure and vibrant fruit purity.

Cellared Says

A deep, brooding red with layers of blackberry, blackcurrant and ripe plum, laced with spice, bay leaf and graphite. The palate is supple yet structured, with dark fruit, cedar and savoury earth wrapped in fine-grained tannins. Elegant, harmonious and long — a classic Henschke, indeed Australian, blend that drinks beautifully on release but will reward 10–15 years in the cellar.

Wine Reviews

“Deeply perfumed and spicy, with blackberry, cassis and violets. Velvety tannins and superb polish. So much class.”
96 Points – James Suckling

“Elegant yet intense… balanced, fresh and energetic, with silky tannins and momentous length. As good a Euphonium as I can recall.”
96 Points – Ken Gargett, WinePilot
