Denton View Hill Nebbiolo 2025
Region: Victoria
Sub Region: Yarra Valley
Variety: Nebbiolo
Country: Australia
Vintage: 2025
Style: Medium-bodied, fragrant and finely tannic red
The Wine
Denton’s View Hill vineyard offers a distinctive setting for Yarra Valley Nebbiolo. The estate’s slopes provide a range of aspects and exposures, allowing each variety to find a suitable position. Nebbiolo occupies the warmer north-western slope, where afternoon sunshine helps develop flavour and ripen its naturally assertive tannins.
The 2025 comes from Block 2A. Hand-picked on 16–17 April, the fruit was fully destemmed and fermented spontaneously in stainless steel. Fourteen days on skins, with twice-daily pump-overs, developed structure while keeping extraction measured.
Maturation was divided equally between stainless steel and seasoned oak puncheons. The wine completed malolactic fermentation and was bottled on 9 February 2026 without fining or filtration. This combination preserves aromatic freshness while allowing the tannins to settle and the texture to develop.
Cherry, blood orange and rose petal lead the profile, followed by tea leaf and a gently earthy note. The palate is juicy and bright, with the fine chew and lingering tannins that make Nebbiolo so distinctive. It offers an accessible, expressive interpretation of the grape while retaining its savoury character.
Cellared Says
I’d put this in the hands of someone curious about Australian Nebbiolo. It gives you the perfume and tannin that make the variety interesting, with enough brightness and generosity to enjoy straight away.
What appeals to me is the balance of intent and ease: a carefully grown, thoughtfully handled wine that invites another glass. I’d enjoy the 2025 over the next few years, while that lively fruit and floral character are at the centre. Worth noting, this is made by Luke Lambert and Luke knows Nebb.
Reviews
“A bright and pretty take on Australian nebbiolo – and one with great drinkability.”
