Daniel Dampt Chablis 2024
Region: Burgundy
Sub Region: Chablis
Variety: Chardonnay
Country: France
Vintage: 2024
The Wine
The Dampt family has grown vines in Chablis for more than 150 years, with Daniel Dampt establishing his own domaine in the hamlet of Milly, close to many of the appellation’s finest Premier Cru slopes. The estate works across all four levels of Chablis, maintaining a particularly traditional approach to its village and Premier Cru wines.
This Chablis blends fruit from mature and younger vines in and around Milly. The vines are rooted in the Kimmeridgian limestone and clay that define the appellation, rich in fossilised marine material and naturally suited to producing Chardonnay with citrus freshness, mineral tension and saline detail.
Vinification and maturation take place entirely in stainless steel, avoiding oak and preserving the directness of the fruit and soil. The 2024 delivers the classic Dampt combination of green apple, lemon, white flowers and oyster shell, with a clean, stony finish and enough texture to move well beyond a simple aperitif.
Cellared Says
This is exactly what good village Chablis should be: clean, mineral and properly dry, with enough mid-palate weight to work at the table. Daniel Dampt offers a particularly honest expression of Chablis without excessive oak, winemaking embellishment or inflated pricing.
