Clos de l'Écotard Saumur Blanc 2020
Region: Loire Valley, France
Variety: Chenin Blanc
Vintage: 2020
The Wine
Planted between 2009 and 2013 by Michel Chevré with guidance from Thierry Germain, the Clos de l’Écotard vineyard lies on clay-limestone slopes below Courchamps. Covering a continuous parcel of two hectares, the Clos de l’Écotard has only ever been ploughed and the farming has been organic since day one. Yields are restricted to four or five bunches per vine. The 2020 vintage, shaped by a warm and dry season, yields Chenin Blancs that are stony, ripe, and supple, with intense, well-balanced palates and graceful, textured length.
Cellared Says
A vibrant expression of Saumur Chenin Blanc, showcasing mineral-driven precision and layered complexity, generous orchard fruit, honeyed notes and waxy red apple. Real energy and verve here. Excellent. Great new producer to Australia.
