By Farr Sangreal Pinot Noir 2022
Region: Geelong, Victoria, Australia
Variety: Pinot Noir
Vintage: 2022
The Wine
The Sangreal vineyard, planted in 1994, is the oldest on the Farr estate. Located on a north-facing slope with bluestone and overlaying limestone soils, the vineyard benefits from full sun exposure throughout the day, resulting in more perfumed, prettier wines. The clones used in Sangreal are 114 and 115, which are believed to have mutated over time to become the ‘Sangreal clone’.
Cellared Says
A seductive mélange of strawberry, pomegranate, red liquorice, and rose petals on the nose opens to reveal fragrant and fresh potting soil of spring. The vibrant acid is reminiscent of a perfectly brewed hibiscus tea, and the seamless interplay of spice, whole bunch, and oak dances on the palate. Super long acid line this year, perhaps not quite as broad as usual but will look great over the long term.
