Bannockburn SRH Chardonnay 2024

$98.00

Region: Geelong, Victoria, Australia
Variety: Chardonnay
Vintage: 2024

The Wine
Grown from some of Bannockburn’s oldest P58 clones planted in 1976 at Olive Tree Hill and whole-bunch pressed. Wild-yeast fermented in French hogsheads (~30–40% new), with 10 months on lees and partial malolactic fermentation. The result is a taut, linear Chardonnay, cloaked in tension and saline energy.

Cellared Says
Electric and crystalline—lime, stone fruit, and piercing energy make for a Chardonnay of laser focus and refined power. You can’t miss that Bannockburn savory edge and all the wines in this years 50th Anniversary release are true to form. These are such good wines to cellar. The 2008 we looked at during the launch tasting highlighted this perfectly, the richness is almost overwhelming, but that tight precise acid line is still holding it all together and keeping it fresh and supple. One of Australia’s truly unique vineyards.

Wine Reviews
“SRH is tightly coiled and powerful, with piercing drive and searing intensity. There’s a core of concentrated citrus and stone fruit, tingling with energy and layered with a mineral edge. Still a pup, this vintage is firm, focused and crackling with potential. Built for the long haul, but already showing its pedigree.”
