Albino Rocca Barbaresco Montersino 2020
Region: Barbaresco, Piedmont
Variety: Nebbiolo
Country: Italy
Vintage: 2020
The Wine
Albino Rocca’s Montersino is a single‑vineyard cru at the southern edge of Barbaresco, perched at around 320–400 m elevation on sandy, calcareous soils. First bottled separately in 2012 from vines planted in the late 1990s, it reflects the vintage's elegance rather than power. Winemaking is traditional: long maceration and aging in large oak casks preserve freshness while developing structure and nuance. The 2020 is perfumed and refined, offering dried herbs, cedar, tobacco and floral layers—all lifted by a mineral backbone.
Cellared says
This is a high-altitude Barbaresco of grace and poise—the 2020 vintage from Montersino is elegant, focused, and beautifully balanced. Expect lifted florals on the nose, persistence and drive in the palate with silk-textured, fine tannins nicely wrought finish, long. A standout in the range of single vineyard wines.
