Albino Rocca Barbaresco Angelo 2020
Region: Barbaresco, Piedmont
Variety: Nebbiolo
Vintage: 2020
Country: Italy
The Wine
Named in honour of Angelo Rocca, this cuvée draws from select parcels within the Ronchi cru. Limestone-rich marl soils and careful vineyard management deliver fruit of aromatic purity and structural definition.
Fermentation in stainless steel with extended maceration is followed by ageing in large Slavonian oak casks. The 2020 vintage brings balance, freshness and classical Nebbiolo poise.
Cellared Says
Rose petal, blood orange and red cherry with savoury nuance and refined tannins. Elegant, structured and unmistakably Barbaresco just in a softer, fruit forward 2020 style. The perfumed nose of the Angelo lift it, pardon the pun, into my personal favorite of the Rocca Barbaresco’s in ‘20.
Wine Reviews
“The 2020 Barbaresco Angelo is an exotic wine. Macerated cherry, white flowers, apricot and spice are some of the many notes that grace this sensual, super-expressive Barbaresco. Fine tannins wrap it all together while lifted floral accents frame the finish. The Angelo is beautifully done.”
