Sami-Odi Our Hill #1 Syrah
Region: Barossa
Sub Region: Angaston
Variety: Syrah
Country: Australia
Vintage: NV
The Wine
Our Hill #1 is Sami-Odi’s inaugural unvintaged assemblage from McKinley’s home hillsides on the south side of Angaston. The blend is made from selected casks of 2025, 2024 and 2023, chosen for delicacy and gentleness rather than sheer weight. The official release note positions it as lithe, trim and supple, and ideal for drinking in youth. Only 2,438 bottles were filled. In the background sits the longer Our Hill story: the site was cleared and terraced from 2015, then planted from cuttings collected from respected old Shiraz vineyards around the Barossa.
Cellared Says
A lovely addition to the Sami-Odi line-up. It has the producer’s detail and intent, but with a more immediate, drink-young charm that makes it very easy to like. Bit too easy. Excellent.
Reviews
“Pure black cherry, dark plum and spice with pressed flowers and finely detailed tannins. Finer aromatically and improving each release.”
