The Wine

Marcel Couturier has become one of the benchmark growers of southern Burgundy, farming organically and biodynamically across some of the finest limestone terroirs in the Mâconnais. The domaine is based in Loché, a small village immediately south of Fuissé, where old vines and limestone-rich soils consistently produce wines that outperform their appellation.

Les Longues Terres is sourced from a single vineyard planted on limestone and clay soils with a strong calcareous influence. The vines average over 50 years of age, naturally limiting yields and producing fruit with concentration and site character. Farming is meticulous, with all vineyard work carried out according to biodynamic principles.

In the cellar, fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and the wine is matured predominantly in older oak barrels, allowing the vineyard character to remain front and centre. There is no excessive oak influence here—just texture, mineral drive and remarkable purity.

Cellared Says

The best Mâcon wines increasingly offer some of Burgundy's greatest value, and Marcel Couturier sits firmly in that conversation. This is the sort of bottle that routinely embarrasses village-level Côte de Beaune wines at twice the price.

Reviews

"A wine of wonderful purity and precision, with bright citrus fruit, chalky minerality and impressive persistence."
92 Points – Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

"Beautifully balanced with freshness, energy and a long mineral finish."
91 Points – Vinous
