              Domaine Moreau-Naudet Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2023
Region: Chablis, Burgundy, France
Variety: Chardonnay
Vintage: 2023
The Wine
Moreau’s Vaillons is composed of fruit from three lieux-dits: Les Epinottes, Roncières, and 75-year-old Sécher vines, which provide tension and mineral depth. Fermented parcel by parcel and aged in both stainless steel and seasoned oak (including 600L barrels), the 2023 offers a beautiful balance of floral nuance, ripe citrus and oyster-shell salinity.
Cellared Says
Elegant and chalky, this Vaillons has both breadth and drive. Expect lifted florals and chalky cut, underpinned by fine extract. A Premier Cru of real pedigree. Ripe and drinking well already, but will reward patience, drink 2026–2036.
Wine Reviews
“Opening from the glass with an expressive bouquet of tangerine zest, white flowers, pear and oyster shell, it’s followed by a medium to full-bodied palate with ample chalky extract and a saline finish. It’s broader than Beauregard but simultaneously racier than Montmains.”
92–94 Points – Kristaps Karklins, The Wine Advocate
“Almost a little more serious but with fine clarity too. Hmm – like the nose – less overt energy – but there’s also less gas here. Supple, clean, with a small chalky finishing style. Excellent style – vs the other it needs more time for the tension to express itself.”
