Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots 2023
Region: Burgundy
Sub Region: Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots
Variety: Chardonnay
Country: France
Vintage: 2023.
The Wine
It shouldn’t be news to anyone that Antoine Jobard is one of the leading names in Meursault, but the 2023s also underline how beautifully his deep, structured style has handled a vintage known for texture and seduction. Poruzots comes from three small plots totalling 0.79 hectares in the upper part of Le Poruzot-Dessus, under the Narvaux terroirs, planted between 1972 and 1994. With its northeasterly exposition, this is always one of the more reserved wines in the range and one of the longest-lived, often the most pungent, earthy and complex Meursault Jobard produces. Since 2022 the whites have been bottled under DIAM, and Jobard has also become more precise with dissolved oxygen, with a portion of each wine spending time in tank during élevage.
Cellared Says
This is the sort of Meursault I love buying for the cellar: less about instant charm, more about detail, tension and quiet authority. Poruzots nearly always repays patience, and in this cellar it very often overdelivers.
Reviews
“The 2023 Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru has a more backward bouquet at first, opening with sea cave and almost flinty scents. The palate is vibrant and citrus-fresh with a fine line of acidity and a vibrant saline finish that fans out beautifully. What a superb Meursault from Jobard—highly recommended.”
93–95 points, Neal Martin, Vinous.
