Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2014
Region: Champagne, France
Variety: 100% Chardonnay
Vintage: 2014
The Wine
Comtes de Champagne is sourced exclusively from the five greatest Côte des Blancs Grands Crus: Avize, Cramant, Chouilly, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. In 2014, conditions produced beautifully ripe Chardonnay with superb acidity — a vintage of purity, finesse and long ageing potential.
The wine is vinified entirely in stainless steel to preserve tension and precision, with 5% of the blend aged briefly in oak for added complexity. It then spends nearly a decade on lees in Taittinger’s medieval chalk cellars before release. Expect crystalline citrus, chalk, white flowers and almond notes, carried by a laser-cut mineral line.
Cellared Says
A brilliant Comtes — detailed, chiseled, long. Classic Côte des Blancs purity with decades ahead of it. Comtes is always the wine we love to see in our annual blind Champagne tasting, it has everything a prestige Champagne should have: powerful fruit, chalky minerality, loads of brioche and autolytic character, yet is also poised, precise and oh so long. The 2014 release, which landed in late November 2025 and now just released, is a future icon. Lovely wine.
Wine Reviews
Antonio Galloni, Vinous – 97 Points
“The 2014 Comtes is a wine of extraordinary finesse. Bright, focused and wonderfully crystalline, with striking energy. It is a total knockout. Enjoy now or cellar.”
William Kelley, Wine Advocate – 96 Points
“Bright, tensile and beautifully defined. Lemon oil, white peach, chalk and brioche. Long, saline and persistent.”
