The Wine

The Charles Heintz Vineyard, owned by the Heintz family for over a century, is located in the Sonoma Coast AVA. Planted in 1982 with Clone 4 Chardonnay, the vineyard's Goldridge sandy loam soils and proximity to the Pacific Ocean contribute to the wine's elegance and complexity. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts, followed by aging in French oak barrels (30% new) for 14 months.

An exquisite Chardonnay that showcases the harmony between fruit and minerality. Notions of almond croissant, persimmons, and candied ginger lead to a fragrant core of mandarin peel, lime blossoms, and juicy nectarines, plus a waft of butterscotch. The medium to full-bodied palate is an explosion of bright citrus and stone fruit fireworks, offset by fantastic tension and a satiny texture, finishing long and minerally.
