Pascal Agrapart “EXP – Experience” Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 2019

$840.00

Region: Champagne
Variety: Chardonnay (100%)
Vintage: 2019
Country: France

The Wine

Disgorged: July 2024 · Formerly “Expérience” · ~11.8% alc · Unfined & unfiltered

A Champagne unicorn—scarce, demand-led pricing, and fiendishly hard to make. Since 2002, Agrapart has held a rare AOC exemption to craft this zero-sugar cuvée with no chaptalisation, no liqueur de tirage or dosage: instead, estate must drives the bottle fermentation, keeping alcohol lower than the rest of the range (~11.8% vs ~12.5%). It also ages beautifully (the 2007 from magnum is in superb shape).

Current release: equal parts from Les Robarts (Avize) and Les Bionnes (Cramant)—the vineyards behind Avizoise and Minéral—‘dosed’ with ~20% 2020 juice from the same sites to trigger secondary fermentation. No sugar or yeast additions at any stage.

In the glass: a one-of-a-kind Blanc de Blancs—complex, floral and crystalline, without the usual autolytic imprint. Pure, delicate and long, finishing with chalk, sap and candied lemon.

Cellared Says

One of Champagne’s most singular cuvées: bone-dry, intensely mineral and ultra-collectible. A must-have for serious grower fans—and a talking piece that ages gracefully.
