The Wine

The Apiana Fiano 2025 draws its name from the Roman word for “bee,” referencing the grape’s heady perfume that historically drew insects to its blossoms. Grown biodynamically at Rockwood Vineyard, using specific Campanian clones in rich, stony soils, this Fiano stands as Australia’s premier expression of the variety. The winemaking is gentle, unfined, and intent on showcasing clarity and vineyard drive.

Cellared Says

The huge aromatic hit you get when you first sniff the intoxicating beeswax and pear-skin aromas is incredible. There's an alluring waxy mid-palate weight that balances crisp acidity, leading to a savoury lees textured, honeyed finish. Texturally rich yet dry and piercing, this Fiano is layered and intense, with a Clare Valley accent and age-ready structure that makes it as versatile as it is compelling. Utterly delicious and perfect to herald be beginning of sping.

Wine Reviews

“Apiana takes its name from the Romans… arguably Australia’s benchmark Fiano… The nose is alive with beeswax, pear skin and quince, flecked with citrus and a touch of nutty spice. The palate has Grosset’s signature clarity and drive, but there’s texture too… finishes long, savoury and dry, with that unmistakable honeyed echo…”
