Giuseppe Mascarello Santo Stefano Di Perno Nebbiolo Barolo 2008
Region: Piemonte
Sub Region: Barolo
Variety: Nebbiolo
Country: Italy
Vintage: 2008
The Wine
The cult producer of the famed, Monprivato Barolo, Azienda Agricola Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio di Mauro Mascarello bought part of the Santo Stefano vineyards in 1990.
Based in the commune of Monforte d’Alba and with only 15% of the vineyard area planted to Nebbiolo this is a small batch Barolo that is simply classic Barolo.
Harvested towards the middle of October. Estate-grown bunches, thinned during the summer, undergo traditional-style, floating cap fermentation for 15/20 days. The wine is then matured in medium-sized Slavonian oak barrels for around 30 months. Bottling: After four years following the vintage.
Cellared Says
Private Cellar – Perfect Condition. Drinking window from producer is 10 to 25 years following vintage, putting it spot on the mature but not overly aged Barolo drinking window.
