$280.00

Region: Eola–Amity Hills, Oregon, USA
Variety: Pinot Noir
Vintage: 2022

The Wine
Evening Land’s Summum Pinot Noir hails from the very top of the Seven Springs Vineyard — a site of volcanic basalt soils and wind-swept slopes that have defined Oregon’s finest wines. Organic and biodynamic farming, whole-cluster fermentations and gentle élevage in French oak produce a wine of lifted perfume and crystalline purity. The 2022 vintage shows wild strawberry, rose, cranberry and spice with fine-boned tannins and thrilling acidity.

Cellared Says
A benchmark for modern Oregon Pinot Noir — luminous, mineral and deeply expressive of its volcanic origin. The 2022 Summum feels both weightless and commanding. These are some of my favorite wines, the whole range is excellent, but the Summum is complete. Quite simply it’s pleasures are endless. Drink 2025–2038.

Wine Reviews

“The 2022 Pinot Noir Seven Springs Summum is one of the most profound expressions of the vineyard. Beautifully perfumed, it offers layers of red cherry, spice, rose petal and mineral drive.”
97 Points – Erin Brooks, The Wine Advocate

“The 2022 Summum is a scintillating effort from the magicians at Evening Land. Spice-driven on the nose, it glistens with a fluorescent ruby and purple core, moving to a light blue rim in the glass. Easily mistaken for a Premier or Grand Cru Burgundy blind, it’s an almost perfect example of what Oregon Pinot Noir can be. Crushed strawberries, red and black cherries, citrus peel, wet-turned earth, toast anise, and dried thyme notes are perfectly balanced alongside the perfect levels of acidity, smooth, rich tannins, and a perfectly formed finish that envelopes the entire palate. Better in 2025 and then enjoy over the next 15 years with proper cellaring.”
98 Points - J. Young - IWC

“The 2022 Pinot Noir Summum is perfumed with peppery florals and dusty lavender, complementing crushed wild berries. This is full of energy, cooling and racy, with depths of tart red fruit cascading beneath an air of violet and rose. It takes on a grippy sensation as fine tannins mount toward the close. The Summum is fermented using 30-40% whole clusters and refined in 60% new French oak.”
95 Points - Vinous
