$1,475.00

Region: Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot
Vintage: 2011

The Wine

Château Latour 2011 underscores why this First Growth stands apart. In a cooler, more restrained year, the estate produced a wine of crystalline purity and classical structure. Graphite, cedar and cassis glide over a framework of powder-fine tannins and laser-focused acidity. It’s Latour in haute-couture tailoring — powerful yet perfectly proportioned.

Cellared Says

This Latour whispers rather than shouts — but listen closely and it’s magnificent. Quiet power, regal balance and immense potential. Best 2030–2050.

Well cellared example. Later Chateau release direct from Latour cellars in 2023. Wine above neck, perfect capsule, no leaks evident. Label in good condition, very minor scuff on left of front label. Excellent condition.

NOTE: T&C’s on second hand wines. Sold as seen.

Wine Reviews

The nose is complex, featuring smoke, meat and hints of wood, with currants, olives and berries underneath. Full body with super-velvety tannins. The strong acidity gives the wine an edginess. Love the spicy, subtly fruity finish. Steely. Try in 2020.

The percentage of Cabernet was reduced from a high of 90% in 2010, but this is still a sturdy, concentrated wine for the long(ish) haul, even in a vintage like 2011. Aromatic and firm, with flavours of graphite, cassis and black plums, it's a very good rather than a great Latour, with tannins that need a polish. Sadly, we won't be tasting Latour from barrel next year, as the château will not sell its wine en primeur from now on. 12+ years
