Bannockburn Grigsby Chardonnay 2024

$79.00

Region: Geelong, Victoria, Australia
Variety: Chardonnay
Vintage: 2024

The Wine
High-density, certified organic block planted in 2007 (0.87 hectares, Bernard 76 clone). Whole-bunch pressed, wild-yeast fermented in oak (~25% new), natural malolactic, and ten months on lees, no stirring. A leaner, textural expression of Chardonnay.

Cellared Says
Focused, complex and layered—the aromas of pear, apple skin and salted caramel lead into a textured palate with grip, lemon pith, nougat, and a saline lift to a powerful line and length. I really liked this, and preferred it ever so slightly to the Winery Block for its restrained power and general suaveness. Great now, better with a few years in the cellar.

Wine Reviews

“Quite a lot of colour… powerful fruit up front, though the finish is then as restrained as it is long. This is a honed wine if ever there was one. Nougat, grilled peach, steel, mineral, orange rind and lemongrass… lemon blossom notes then rising through the finish... The length of the finish… emphasises the quality.”
